GETTING TO AND FROM HERCULES IS GETTING EASIER EVERY DAY.
The importance of location in making real-estate decisions is well known. Hercules and its residents benefit from its position in the heart of the Bay Area, with Interstate 80 and State Route 4 intersecting with the city limits.
Bay Area business centers and airports, including San Francisco, Oakland, Walnut Creek and Silicon Valley, are an hour or less from Hercules. Within that short travel time, visitors can also be in Marin County, Napa Valley and other coastal areas of Northern California.
BART and AMTRAK are accessible via connecting service. There is direct WestCAT bus service to San Francisco during commute hours, with other local service throughout the day.
Hercules is poised to offer even better access with the developement of its new Intermodal Transit Center which will include bus, rail and ferry service. Upon completion, the new Intermodal Transit Center will offer Amtrak train service to points on the Capitol Corridor line, ferry service will take passengers to San Francisco, and bus service will connect riders to locations throughout the Bay Area. A transit village will provide live/work, office and retail space within walking distance of the Intermodal Transit Center. This will be the only direct rail-to-ferry hub in the Bay Area,.
Planning for the Intermodal Transit Center is well underway. Development of the new facility is expected to begin in 2010, with the start of intergrated service planned for 2012.
